Although you´ve already been pointed to some of the best books, if I had to start from scratch, I´d pick Beginning C++ Through Game Programming. Beginner, but I have programming experience with Java, so it shouldn't be too hard to pick up. It's too heavy Are you a beginner or have some experience already? It is a fantastic book written by Stephen Davies. I also think that since the apps you make with Android are heavily dependent on the frameworks, anyone with an understanding of common, object-oriented languages like C++ and C# will pick things up quickly. Or, you could go for the Art of Computer Programming, written by Knuth, the father of C++. Micboy, never ever recommend Knuth books for beginners.
